Some proposals are sweet. Some are emotional. And some? Some are perfectly orchestrated surprises—and that’s exactly what Sam pulled off for Katie.
From the very first message Sam sent me, I could feel how much love and intention he was pouring into this moment. He wanted something that felt personal, romantic, and unforgettable—and together, we made it happen.
After bouncing around a few ideas and scouting for just the right place, we landed on a location that might not sound magical at first… but completely transformed into something cinematic: the top floor of a parking garage in downtown Starkville. With a skyline view, open skies, and golden hour light that wrapped everything in a dreamy glow, it was the perfect spot for a proposal that would take Katie by complete surprise.
And the best part? She had absolutely no idea.
We came up with a little story—Sam told Katie they had to swing by to pick up a Facebook Marketplace find for his mom. Totally innocent. Totally believable. And totally genius. Katie went along with it, having no clue what was actually waiting for her at the top of that garage.
With the help of my amazing assistant Alana (who deserves a standing ovation for helping us pull this off so smoothly!), we had everything in place. As Katie stepped out of the car and followed Sam to the edge of the rooftop, the light was golden and soft, casting the most beautiful tones across the concrete. The sky faded into dreamy pastels—peach, lavender, soft blue—while the town below glowed in the distance. The open space gave the moment a sense of calm and intimacy, like the world had paused just for them.
And then—Sam dropped to one knee.
Katie’s reaction was everything. The surprise. The joy. The realization of what was actually happening. Her hands flew to her face, her eyes welled with tears, and laughter spilled out as she said yes to forever. It was raw, emotional, and so incredibly beautiful.
Afterward, we gave them a quiet moment to soak it all in before capturing some of the most romantic post-proposal portraits. The setting was minimal and modern, allowing every emotion to take center stage. As the sun dipped lower and city lights started to sparkle, the scene turned even more magical.
I’ll never forget how this moment felt—completely genuine and full of heart.
